I am currently teaching art classes to a few 6th graders after school, and yesterday was pen and ink day! This is the lesson sheet I prepared for them in the morning, with skills they need to practice: even lines, tapered lines, variable thickness lines, curved tapered lines, cross-hatching (with straight and curved lines), changing line direction to emphasize different faces of a shape, a series of progressively thicker lines, varying line directions to create texture, stippling effects, and using line-weight to emphasize depth and lighting. After that, a quick pen sketch making use of the different techniques. Pigma brush pen on 9x12 bristol plate.
